Aimed at addressing the perennial water supply shortages, the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project is being developed by Wawa JVCO, a joint venture between SLRB and Prime Infra of port magnate and billionaire Mr. Enrique Razon, the Philippines' 3rd richest man.
The water supply is a private off-take arrangement between water concessionaire Manila Water Company (MWC) and Wawa JVCO. It will ensure water supply delivery of 80 million liters per day (MLD) by 2021 and over 500 MLD to 750 MLD by 2025.
The project was recently approved and signed by the MWSS Board of Trustees. MWSS Administrator Reynaldo Velasco says that the 500 MLD to 750 MLD volume of water from the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project will boost MWC’s current water production by about 30 percent and is considered the largest water supply project that will be implemented under the Duterte administration.
Project cost is estimated to be 15 to 20 Billion pesos.
